I had my sight test today and ordered new glasses which I will pick up tomorrow. Writing about eye might not be as sexy as a new outfit, new makeup or a fresh haircut, but they are important. It is surprising how much your diet contributes to your overall health. In the eye health guide I found a 2 page spread called "The Eye Diet" which I have decided to share with you my followers and friends.
There's more to looking after your eyes than just regular eye test . The benefits of eating a healthy diet that's rich in vitamins A, C and E other nutrients such as Lutein and Zinc can help you keep your eyes healthy.
Vitamins A: cod liver oil, sweet potatoes and butternut squash
Vitamin C: red or green peppers oranges and broccoli
Bioflavonoids: grapes, cherries, and citrus fruits
Vitamin E: avocado, sunflower seeds and almonds
Selenium: Brazil nuts, yeast and seafood
Lutein: dark, green leafy vegetables, such as kale, spinach, green leaf juice, sweet potatoes and yes carrots are great too.
Fatty Acids: oily fish like mackerel and salmon
Zinc: oysters, hamburgers (beef), wheat and nuts
