My Christmas Wishlist 2014

Hey, Hey my lovelies long time no blog.
I don't know where the time went, one minute it was summer and now it is time for the magic and sparkle, Christmas carols, parties and late night shopping.
I will be totally spinning the Christmas tunes from tomorrow, and watching the films.I have already had a sneaky watch of Home alone 1 & 2, This Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street, much to my brothers annoyance.

I have had a look in  the shops and these are  the things which I would not mind finding under my tree, on Christmas day.
Now I must warn you this is a quite a lip heavy post. lol

Chanel Chance Perfume

Nars Digital World Lip Pencil Set

Laura Mercier Mini Lip Glace Collection

Nars Tech Fusion Lip Gloss Set

Lord & Berry Library Lip Gloss Set

I've been dipping and dabbling here and there with the new releases on the high street.
I also picked up a  few things  clothes/makeup/books) in the after summer sales. Unlike list year when my Christmas list was quite extensive. This year my list is short and sweet.

Spring Scents: Nina Ricci, Davidoff, Sanctuary, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang

I've rotated my clothing, skincare and now my fragrances. These are all perfumes that I already in my collection, the Nina Ricci is the only new edition.
My taste in fragrances lean mostly toward citrus and floral scents.  This means that I have a great range to choose from when it comes to perfumes.

Vera Wang, Sanctuary, Nina Ricci, Ralph Lauren, Davidoff

The Davidoff cool Water Wave is an EDT I use this along with the Sanctuary Body spray for work. They are very light, great for perking up my mood, however they do not last very long. I keep these scents going with top up spritzes throughout the day.

Very Wang - Lovestruck Floral Rush I wrote a blog post about this fragrance last summer. This is an EDP great floral fragrance, which lasts all day ( prefer to touch up around 3pm).

Ralph Lauren - Romance I love this perfume, it is one of my absolute favourites. (I already bought a backup).

Nina Ricci- Ricci Ricci this is the new kid on the block. This scent is a bit heavier/muskier than the others, I will using this in the evenings.

My spritzes for 2014 Spring/Summer.

5 need to know tips about perfume

5 need to know tips about perfume

1. Where to wear
Your pulse points are naturally warmer than any other areas on your body and heat intensifies the scent, so apply perfume to the wrists, neck,  and the inside of elbows. Feel daring? Try spritzing  scents behind your knees, above your hip bones and the small of your back.

2. Settle in
Rubbing your wrists together after spraying your signature perfume will bruise the scent. Instead, spray and let it settle the smell will last longer.

3. Seasonal Scents
Just like you have clothes for different seasons, some scents suit the warmer weather, while others smell like cozy winter night in. Choose citrus, fruity, aquatic and floral scents for Summer and Spring; or oriental, spicy and  woody for Autumn and Winter.

4. Layer by layer
Using the body wash and body lotion  versions of your favorite scent before spritzing your perfume on your pulse points will make the scent last longer on your skin.

5. Makes scents
Store your perfume bottles in a cool, dark place and keep them out of direct sunlight to make sure they retain their lush scent.

Vera Wang Lovestruck - Floral Rush

I love the Vera Wang Lovestruck fragrance. Earlier in the year I bought one  of these perfumes when Boots had them on special offer during May. Floral Rush has a light floral scent, which is not too far from the original fragrance but enough to make a distinction.  It is suitable for the Spring/Summer months where a lighter scent is suited for every day activities like going to work.  In true Vera Wang Fashion the bottle is gorgeous, not in any way handbag friendly but gorgeous all the same.

It is a Eau de Parfum which means that due to the  higher concentrate of perfume,  the fragrance lingers on the body longer than it would have if it was an Eau de Toilette.

Simply put I like this fragrance enough to suggest, you to give it a sniff.
I am  giving my sister for her birthday.  (She specifically asked for perfume, plus the bottle is gorgeous.)

The Vera Wang Lovestruck - Floral Rush is currently on offer 30ml for the Price of £19.99 at Boots and John Lewis. If you or someone you know are interested, this is the time to snatch one up.

Happy Spritzing my lovelies.

Cuticura Passion Flower and Mango Anti Bacetrial Hand gel

Wet Ones Be Zingy Anti Bacterial Hand wipes (x5) - These wipes were 54p,  usually £1.15p in Boots/Superdrug where I usually buy them. I bought all that I could find in the store. #don'tjudgeme

Perfumers' Vocab: A Scent Glossary

NOTES
The top, middle and base notes are different parts of the scent journey. Top is the first scent to hit your nose experiences followed by the smell of the middle and the base notes as the perfume dries on your skin.

TOP NOTES
The first impressions of the scent when sniffed or applied to the skin, Usually the most volatile of the ingredients.

MIDDLE (HEART) NOTES
The core of a perfume that gives the scent its character, the middle notes tend to dictate the family group.

BASE NOTES
These are the final notes that mingle with the heart notes to create the body of scent. They linger the longest after the other notes evaporate.

STRENGTH
The concentration of scent is determined by the ratio of its base. The higher the concentration, the more long lasting and intense it will be.

PERFUME
Its highly concentrated and contains the highest percentage of base, so just a dab or two will do.

EAU DE PARFUM
This can be applied more than just perfume. It gives more depth and will last longer on the skin than EDT.

EAU DE TOILETTE
This is a lighter scent. It can be spritzed throughout the day to add to the intensity.

AFTERSHAVE
For is after shaving. They generally have antiseptic properties.

FAMILIES
Scents are grouped into families according to the major characteristics they exhibit. Sub-families are the blending of two families.

CITRUS
Scents that are characterized by the fresh elements of lemon, orange, grapefruit, bergamont or pomelo.

Floral
These scents possess the characteristics of a specified flower or blend of several flower notes, such as jasmine, lily and rose.

WOODY
An odour that is linked to the aroma of freshly cut, dry wood, or fibrous roots such as sandalwood or vetiver.

TECHY
ACCORD
The blend of the three or four notes which, by losing their individual identity, creates a new scent.

The process of changing from liquid to vapour

Layering
The use of two or more scent forms, usually starting with a fragrant product in the bath or shower.

Summer Fragrances

When you are contending with a 9-5, (job for those not clued up on Miss Dolly) fragrances can be a tricky thing to learn. How much is to much? How often should I reapply? Should I even reapply? Is that person really allergic to scents or are they just being annoying?  I personally love a perfume that I can apply once and they keep going and going and going hence my love for the CoCo Madmoiselle by Chanel and Romance by Ralph Lauren fragrances.

Some might find the idea of making such a pricey purchase for ever day wear not cost effective. However there are alternatives to  perfume for those who would like to indulge in a spritz or two of scent here and there. Body Sprays laced with essential oils and eau de toilettes ( a lighter version of perfume) can be cost a cost effective way of keeping you spritzed up during the warmer weather.

My current summer fragrances are:
Dove go Fresh Cucumber and Green Tea body mist

Sanctuary Spa Body Spray - They make a shower oil which I am dying to try, along with the eau de toilette to match this body spray.

Zara White Eau de toilette - I have spied 2 summer fragrance offerings from Zara, at first sniff they were very lovely. I will investigate further. The Zara fragrances have quite good staying power.

Which fragrances are you wearing my lovelies?
Comment below and let me know.

BlogMas Day 13 - Fragrance

Fragrance buying tips

1. Trust your intuition 'Your mind knows what suits you, so tune in to it and make the reight decisions,' says fragrance expert Will Andrews.

2. Wait 20 minutes after spritzing 'Once the initial burst of top notes have gone the main fragrance character will emerge,' says Will. (aka you get the reallllllll stuff says Kae-Toya)

3. Download an App 'Try iPerfumer, which offers suggestions for new scents,' says fragrance expert Joanna Norman.

4. Look for clues If you are buying for someone else , think about what they use already, just as you would if choosing clothes or jewellery. find out what they wear now , what fragrance family it is from (floral, oriental, chypre, gourmand) or what its the dominant note is (jasmine, orange blossom, etc) and then look into picking out something similar.

Beauty Tag: Whats your fragrance?

Hey everyone this is a tag that has been going around the beauty community, so I decided to jump in and liven things up a bit. enjoy

1. Floral, Fruity, Warm, Spicy or Food smell?
