The Eye Diet - Vision Express

I had my sight test today and ordered new glasses which I will pick up tomorrow. Writing about eye might not be as sexy as a new outfit, new makeup or a fresh haircut, but they are important. It is surprising how much your diet contributes to your overall health.  In the eye health guide I found  a 2 page spread called "The Eye Diet" which I have decided to share with you my followers and friends.

There's more to looking after your eyes than just regular eye test . The benefits of eating a healthy diet that's rich in vitamins A, C and E other nutrients such as Lutein and Zinc  can help you keep your eyes healthy.

Vitamins A: cod liver oil, sweet potatoes and butternut squash

Vitamin C: red or green peppers oranges and broccoli

Bioflavonoids: grapes, cherries, and citrus fruits

Vitamin E: avocado, sunflower seeds and almonds

Selenium: Brazil nuts, yeast and seafood

Lutein: dark, green leafy vegetables, such as kale, spinach, green leaf juice, sweet potatoes and yes carrots are great too.

Fatty Acids: oily fish like mackerel and salmon

Zinc: oysters, hamburgers (beef), wheat and nuts

Vision Express recommends: adding these foods to your shopping  basket every week.
